Pizzeria Vetri

Pizzaria Vetri
1939 Callowhill Street
Philadelphia, PA 19103

Today we went to Pizzaria Vetri.  When we got here it was very crowded and you can’t make reservations.  This place is fancy – (Carl wanted to make sure I added that).  There’s only one size of pizza and I think its small.  We ordered 4 pizzas for the 3 of us.  The pizza is thin. The sauce is runny and the cheese is spotty which means it’s fresh mozzarella.  The crust was chewy.  The pizza oven is big and has 2 openings so they can make pizzas on one side and other food on the other side.  They let us go to the back and see the whole pizza oven.

Fun fact:   The person who owns this place also owns the other fancy place – Osteria.

Tonight we went to a place called Bufad.  The tables had 4 seats and they put in a wooden piece to make the table bigger.  First we got mussels as our appetizer.  We ate them pretty quick.  The sauce wasn’t the same garlic we get at Marra’s because it had garlic pieces in there but it still tasted a lot like garlic sauce and it was good.

One slice is pretty small.  The crust on the end is puffy and there’s barely any cheese.  The tomato sauce is liquidy and the crust under the cheese and sauce is very thin.  The pizza actually tastes a lot like last week but only the crust.

Carl said as we walked in and I agree – this place is fancy.  We had like 3 people waiting on us and one brought us a coloring book and crayons.  I like that they gave us 4 different types of bread.  And I like how one wall in the dining room is all windows.  We ordered Roy Rogers to drink and they put two dark cherries on a stick.  The waitress said they were sweeter than the normal cherries.
The pizza i good.  The crust is really thin and easy to break. It is the thinnest crust we had so far. The sauce is fresh but there’s not that much of it.  And there’s barely any cheese but that’s a good thing.  The desserts are really fancy too and we got a honey gelato.
4.0 slices I’m giving it 4 stars because it’s fancy and the pizza is good.
