Cosmi’s Deli

Cosmi’s Deli

Today, instead of going out for pizza, we went to Cosmi’s Deli.  We all got cheesesteaks because they won lots of awards.  You can get the cheesesteak with a Sarcone’s roll or a Liscio’s roll. We picked a Sarcone’s because we go to Sarcone’s and plus Sarcone’s has seeds and Liscio’s doesn’t.  We could pick 4 or 5 types of cheeses but we picked whiz.  I don’t really know how the good the meat is because I haven’t had another cheesesteak in 7 months.  The cheesesteak meat is chewy and I think the cheese looks like nacho cheese and tastes like nacho cheese but it’s not as spicy as nacho cheese.  If you want to come to Cosmi’s with a big party, do not stay because they won’t have enough chairs.  They only have 4 chairs.

I rate Cosmi’s 4 cheesesteaks which is 4 stars.

Celebres

Celebres
1536 Packer Ave
Philadelphia,  PA 19145

Today we went to Celebres near the sports stadiums.  We got the Old Way pizza which is instead of the cheese being on the top, the cheese is on the bottom.  Because the cheese is on the bottom, sometimes when you bite it the cheese pulls off under the sauce.  The dough is thick and hard and crunchy.  The sauce is thick and not runny.  The cheese is in a thin layer and it’s mozzarella.

The server was nice because she takes pictures for you and helps you and stuff.

I give this place 3.75 stars because it’s almost as good as it gets.

Uncle Oogie’s

Uncle Oggie’s
36 E Snyder Avenue
Philadelphia,  PA 19148

Tonight we went to Uncle Oogies.  When we got here,  I asked where Uncle Oogie was and the worker said he wasn’t here.  She said his real name is Lou but he is called Uncle Oogie because his nephew when he was little couldn’t say Uncle Louie so he said Uncle Oogie.

The pizza is hot.  The cheese is on top of everything except the crust.  It’s not spotty like it is with fresh mozzarella.  The bottom of the crust is sort of thin.  There is not a lot of tomato sauce and the pizza is sort of juicy.

You order by the slice and they have three locations. I give this pizza 3.5 stars.

Nomad Pizza Company – 2nd Course

Nomad Pizza Company

This is a guest post by Carl

Today, we went to Nomad.  The pizza is very chewy and puffy and good.  And drinks they only had water with lemon because all the other drinks are alcoholic and you have to be over 21.  They gave you sharp knives.  We got to sit near the front where they make the pizza.  Their oven is round and has fire in it.  They put the pizza in the back of the oven because its hotter back there but they dont put it right near the fire.  We ordered a margherita pizza.

I give this puzza 4 stars.

Editors notes:
1.  Carl is doing todays blog because Jacob didn’t come because he was punished for not doing his homework.
2.  We were goig to order another one but we saw some staff members (including pizza makers) use their phones and handle money and not wash their hands.

4.0 slices I give it all 4 stars!

Santucci’s Original Square Pizza

Santucci’s
901 South 10th Street
Philadelphia,  PA 19147

One important thing I need to say.  The pizza is upside down.  Instead of the cheese being on the top,  the cheese is on the bottom and the tomato sauce is on top.

If you order the hot-wings they really are hot.

The pizza is more messy than regular pizza.  The cheese is stringy.  Instead of the pizza being round it is a square.  The bottom crust is sort of puffy.  Carl says that “The outer crust you hold is hard and crunchy though and that the place was crowded when we got here.”

Tonight went to Little Italy.  They sell pizza by slices.  We used to come here a lot but they changed a lot of things and were mean so we stopped coming.  I got a margarita slice and it was big.  The sauce was messy.  The slices are left out so you can choose what you want and then they cook it again.  You have to go to the counter to order; the waiter doesn’t come.  The cheese on the margarita pizza is thick and stringy and reminds me of Carl’s  favorite place Joey’s that closed.

Gennaro’s Pizza

Gennaro’s Pizza
1429 Jackson Street
Philadelphia, PA  19145

We went to Gennaro’s tonight.  When you walk in, you will go through a curtain.  If you order ice in your drink it’s smashed not cubes.  It’s a small place with a lot of old things on the wall like pictures, radios and an airplane model.

The cheese is fresh and looks runny but its not.  The sauce and cheese ate all over each other.  The crust is very thin and crispy.  We ate it quick and we ate all of it.

Editors note: When Jacob saw a large pizza delivered to the next table, he exclaimed: “We should have gotten a large!”   Jacob, we did get a large!

The staff is really nice here and the pizza is different and thin.

We went to Slice tonight.  We ordered plain pizza but it is not like one of those places with a waitress.  We had to go to the counter to order our pizza.  We sat outside and we got a bottle of orange soda for our drink.

The pizza is good, two thumbs up.  It’s crunchy and if you push it down with your thumb, it doesn’t break.  It holds its shape, and it’s good hard.  It’s nice and hot.  The parmesan cheese is fresh and good too.

The people are nice.  They gave us extra parmesan and the tomato sauce is very tomatoey. There was no waiter so you have to go to the counter and ask for stuff.  You have to ask for them to open your bottle and anything else you need.  We sat outside at a table and were left on our own.

It’s just across the street from Capitolo playground.

4.0 slices I rate this place 3 and a half stars. They lost half a star because you had to ask them for stuff.

Marra’s

Marra’s

We went to Marra’s tonight because the mussels are so good and we like the pizza too.  We came here a few months ago and the waitresses still remembered us.  We got a Shirley Temple.
These are the best mussels in the whole city especially when you dip them and the bread in the garlic sauce.

The pizza is very good. The crust is chewy and crunchy and it had the perfect amount of cheese and sauce. The staff is really nice. I give it 4 slices!

We used to come when they first opened but they didn’t have drinks we liked so we stopped coming.  But now we like Roy Rogers and Shirley Temples so we came back.  We are sitting at an outside table and we ordered meatballs and a margherita pizza – how wonderful dinner!!  The meatballs are good and the bread with the meatballs was really really good.
The waiter, David,  just brought us out 4 extra cherries for our drink and we didn’t even ask him.  Yay!  The waiter is really nice.
The pizza sauce is like tomatoey so it tastes more like fresh tomatoes. The pizza is made an old fashioned oven where me and Carl looked at the fire through the window. For dessert we had raspberry and line sorbet and it was excellent!
4.0 slices The nomad pizza is actually really good. I give it all 4 stars!

Stogie Joe’s Tavern

Stogie Joe’s Tavern
1801 E Passyunk Ave
Philadelphia, PA 19148

We came here because we heard from Uncle Larry that it was voted one of the best places in the country.  I told the waitress that they can put the sauce on the top and cheese on the bottom and I got mushrooms on it too.  We also ordered mussels and Roy Rogers to drink.  The mussels are almost as good as Marras which is right there (pointing across the street).  Some mussels are orange and my favorite part is the stringy part.
4.0 slices I give this pizza 4 slices even thoigh the crust was a little burnt.
I like the way they have a garage door in the seating area and you can see good. Its a really big window.
